Five application characteristics of slewing bearings

The slewing bearing is a large special structure bearing that can bear large axial load, radial load and overturning moment and other combined loads at the same time. Usually, it has mounting holes, lubricating oil holes and sealing devices, which can meet the different needs of various main machines under various working conditions. In addition, the slewing bearing itself has the characteristics of compact structure, convenient guiding rotation, simple installation and easy maintenance. Special coating can maintain the performance of the bearing. Although the equipment has a long durability by spraying special paint or oxidation treatment on the outer surface, the commonly used anti-rust method is chrome plating (TDC) or nickel plating. Most bearing failures are caused by improper lubrication or impurity contamination. Grease overflow is acceptable in many construction equipment (with or without sealing devices), but for some other applications, such as robots, positioning devices and control devices, grease leakage is not allowed. In many applications, grease leakage will affect product quality and cause safety problems. The rolling elements are usually separated by isolation blocks. This structure can maintain the smoothness of movement and is therefore widely used. Special applications require special ball or roller spacers. Bearings mounted on horizontal shafts or used in continuously rotating generators and in applications with high requirements for positioning and reliability can use strip-type combined cages to keep the rolling elements in the correct circumferential position.

In many cases, gear teeth can be machined on the inner or outer ring of the bearing to simplify the structure of the drive system. To avoid problems, it is best to seek the help of gear experts when determining the drive system structure.

The connection between the turntable bearing and the base and the rotating parts is mainly bolted. Therefore, the number, diameter, length, precision and especially the installation of the bolts are very important. Not only is the arrangement of the bolts different for different applications, but also the inner and outer rings are different.
